Our client

BTP is an innovative Belgian telecommunications infrastructure company with a portfolio of more than 3,320+ sites across Belgium. The company builds, manages and leases a broad portfolio of telecom towers and macro sites across Belgium. The company’s high-quality telecom tower portfolio is strategically located to offer maximum coverage for all technological needs of its clients (such as telecom operators, radio and emergency services) including broadband, point-to-point connections or mobile communications.

BTP is a small, efficient company, based in Zaventem. The company is characterized by a dynamic and international working environment.

Function

As Solo Legal Counsel at BTP, you will be responsible for the legal management of the day-to-day business operations, in close collaboration with the BTP business owners, executive team and shareholders. You will play a key role in assisting the company with real estate-related issues, from contract negotiations to regulatory matters.

You will report directly to the CFO and work closely with both internal teams and external advisors.

Your main responsibilities are:

1. Contract law

  • M&A: supervise acquisitions of mobile and immobile assets, including legal due diligence and contract management
  • Contracts with suppliers, landlords, tenants and clients
  • SPOC for all other types of contracts such as NDA’s, RFP documentation, templates
  • Contract Lifecycle Management

2. Tax on pylon: declarations and contestation, define negotiation and argumentation

3. Corporate housekeeping

  • SPOC for corporate housekeeping matters such as auditors, PoAs management, publications in Moniteur Belge etc.
  • Coordination of Board meetings, General Assembly and all relevant corporate documents

4. Insurance related issues

5. Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with real estate regulations related to the construction and management of towers
  • SPOC for all H&S, legal/regulatory matter relating to the ongoing (and future) security clearings of BTP staff and staff of managed third parties
  • Assist in drafting corporate policies; ensure compliance with internal procedures; coordinate audits and ESG policies

6. Follow-up and answer to possible claims and legal procedures

Profile

  • You have a Belgian Master degree in Law
  • You have minimum 7 years of relevant working experience in the field of (transactional) real estate and contract law, preferably in the telecom sector
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both oral and written
  • You are able to work independently, but also able to interact well with external advisors and partners
  • You are a true business partner, able to understand the business and the risks derived from it
  • You are proactive, pragmatic and able to go the “extra mile” when necessary, but with a healthy work-life balance
