Function

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Group Legal Counsel to join CFE’s legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate law, particularly in mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance, along with knowledge of and/or interest in construction law and public private partnerships. This role offers the opportunity to expand into other legal areas such as GDPR, insurance law, public market regulations, labor law and to contribute to the growth of an innovative and rapidly expanding Group. As part of the CFE’s legal team, you will report to the General Counsel while working alongside experienced (legal) professionals.

  • You provide expert legal advice on corporate law and corporate governance matters, including M&A and other corporate transactions.
  • You offer legal and contract support to the Group’s entities on construction law and public-private partnerships.
  • You explore and practice various areas of law, including GDPR, insurance law, public market regulations, and labor law, by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of legal documents and contracts.
  • You coordinate and contribute to corporate housekeeping tasks for CFE and all Group entities, with the help of a junior; legal counsel and a paralegal.
  • You further develop the legal community within the Group by identifying synergies, defining processes, and fostering collaboration.
  • You design and implement Group (legal) risk management strategies and processes.
  • You ensure compliance with the Group’s policies and monitor their implementation. Internal use only.
  • You provide practical and clear legal advice on a broad range of legal questions related to the Group’s activities, collaborating with internal business stakeholders.
  • You are accountable for working independently and taking responsibility, while actively contributing to team knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • You stay informed about relevant legal developments and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Profile

  • You hold a master’s degree in Law.
  • You have at least 8 years of relevant experience in corporate law, gained in a major law firm or as an in-house lawyer, preferably in a comparable sector.
  • You possess knowledge of and/or a keen interest in construction law, project finance, and public-private partnerships.
  • You are fluent in Dutch, French, and English.
  • You have experience in advising on contentious matters and disputes.
  • You demonstrate strong analytical skills and a pragmatic business approach.
  • You excel in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
  • You have strong negotiation skills, with the ability to handle complex discussions and secure advantageous outcomes for both parties.
  • You are proactive, open-minded, and solution-oriented.
  • You work autonomously but also thrive as a team player.
  • You combine a “business enabler” mindset with intellectual independence, ensuring a sound and sustainable legal framework for CFE’s operations.
