Legal Counsel – Group De Cloedt

In this role you will report to the Group General Counsel and you will provide legal advice at the headquarters in Brussels (Ixelles/Elsene). Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

• Providing legal advice to the different business lines of the Group, with focus on contract, commercial, corporate and real estate law.
• Supporting the Joint Venture and M&A activity of the Group.
• Researching and evaluating different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations and design and implement legal processes. You will apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on potential legal issues.
• Managing and monitoring legal disputes and litigation with internal and external parties, such as lawyers.
• Supporting the HR department in employment/social issues.
• Supporting the Finance Department with inter-company agreements and other financial documentation and formalities.
• Be responsible for the corporate housekeeping of the Group.
• Ensuring compliance in different domains, such as GDPR.

• You have a Master in law and at least 3 years of experience as a lawyer or inhouse counsel.
• You have a good knowledge of general contract, commercial law and corporate law. A degree or interest in maritime law is a plus.
• You are eager to learn, punctual and structured.
• You demonstrate the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality.
• You like to work in an international environment.
• You are a team player.
• You have a good business acumen and you are solution oriented, able to make risk assessments.
• You are fluent in English and have Dutch or French as mother tongue with a good knowledge of the other national language.
