Function

The primary objective of the compliance function is to mitigate risk by proactively ensuring that all aspects of the company’s operations are conducted in compliance with the laws, regulations, internal rules and ethical standards. To that end, the compliance officer will identify and assess potential compliance risks and ensure the professional management (monitoring, mitigating and reporting) of those.  Beyond legal requirements, the function also promotes ethical conduct within the organization. This involves fostering a corporate culture that values integrity and ethical behavior.

The Compliance Officer has following areas of responsibility:

  • Support the execution of the compliance function activities within Ageas as defined by the Group Director Compliance in light of regulatory requirements for a series of compliance domains as defined. These include Integrity, Ethics Anti Bribery and Corruption, Whistleblowing, Conflict of Interest, Sanctions, Anti Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing, Market Abuse etc);
  • Support regular update on legal and regulatory changes;
  • Support the monitoring and assessment of compliance with policies and standards;
  • Support the adequate reporting both to internal and external stakeholders – compile reports of interviews, findings and recommendations developed, action plans established, and progress noted;
  • Coordinate planning of compliance activities;
  • Support the Group-wide compliance community;
  • Support the development and roll-out of Compliance Training materials.
  • Manage the compliance tools (Insider Management, Gifts and Events Declaration, Whistleblowing, Policy Platform);

Profile

  • Master’s degree;
  • Minimal 5 years of experience in a Compliance, Audit or Legal function;
  • Understanding of the (re)insurance business and in particular the impact of the regulatory frameworks on the insurance activities;
  • Ability to shine in an international context;
  • Demonstrate highest degree of integrity and discretion;
  • You are fluent in English (both written as spoken) and Dutch and/or French.
